Psalm 28:7

The Lord Is My Strength and Shield: Trust Beyond the Weight

"The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me."

Psalm 28:7

Strength that does not start with you

Training teaches you to measure strength by numbers: weight on the bar, miles completed, or reps performed. Psalm 28:7 gives us a deeper measure. David does not say the Lord merely gives him strength. He says the Lord is his strength.

That distinction matters when your energy is low or progress feels slow. Your confidence does not have to rise and fall with your performance. The source of your strength remains steady even when you do not feel strong.

A shield for the unseen battles

Not every battle leaves a visible mark. Comparison, discouragement, fear of failure, and the pressure to prove yourself can weigh more than anything in the gym. The Lord is not only our strength for the work; He is our shield in the fight.

Trusting Him means bringing those pressures into the light. You can train with purpose without letting your performance define your worth. You are protected by a love that cannot be earned by a personal record or lost through a setback.

He helps me

Psalm 28:7 ends with a simple testimony: He helps me. Carry that truth into your next workout and your next hard season. Ask for His help, receive it with humility, and let your discipline become gratitude in motion.
